Experts believe that teenagers should get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. Not only does exercise benefit parts of your body, but it also benefits your mind as well. When you exercise, the body produce endorphin, a chemical that can help a person to feel more peaceful and happy about themselves. Exercise also improves self esteem and mild depression because when you exercise it gives people a real sense of accomplishment when they achieve a certain goal. Exercise also lowers the risk of getting certain diseases like high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. Exercise is a great way to maintain good health for your body and mind as it keeps you looking young and healthy.

Do you believe that it is necessary to get 60 minutes of exercise a day or do you believe there are other alternatives that have the same benefits that improve your body as exercise?

  1. I agree with the article that the best way to stay healthy is to exercise often. Obviously, it is beneficial to eat healthy foods but in order to be completely healthy, a person needs to exercise. Just eating healthy isn't enough, people need to exercise regularly too. Although sometimes it is not possible to get 60 minutes of exercise everyday, as long as people get some exercise fairly often than it will help them to be more healthy now and in the future.

  2. i think the key to being and staying healthy not only includes exercise but your diet and daily activities as well. if you have a good combo of eating, exercising and being active through out your day then you should be feeling/looking relatively healthy. not enough of each will cause health problems as well as too much. as long as you are aware of what you eat and do during your day, you should be in good shape.

  3. I agree with this article also because exercising is very important mentally and physically. Being mentally fit can decrease the risk of getting diseases and being physically fit is an important aspect of being healthy. I believe 60 minutes a day of exercise is very important, but most people don't get this necessary exercise every day or ever. Any type of physical activity is important, but like the other article said, even five minutes can make a difference.

  5. I really enjoyed reading this article. It's very interesting to see how living healthy in one area of your life can affect all other components of health as well. I do wonder, if more than 60 minutes of exercise is also more beneficial to the mind, or if nothing further happens mentally after 60 minutes.

  6. I think exercising is important to maintain healthy by staying in shape and decrease the chances of getting certain diseases. However, you also need to eat right to remain healthy, therefore, exercising and eating healthy are both important to do. I would have to agree that working out does make you feel better because whenever I am stressed, I go for a run or play soccer and then I feel a lot better afterwards.

  7. I think that the article is very well written. Exercising is an important factor for keeping your body healthy. Eating the correct foods is only part of living a healthy life. Exercising every day is a big factor in having a tip-top shape body. Sleeping, depression, personal accomplishments and weight can be improved by going out and working out your body. According to the Mayo Clinic, 30 minutes per day is sufficient to keep physically healthy. Sixty minutes is a good goal but any amount of time exercising is well spent.

  8. I agree with Erica saying that exercising is the best way to remain healthy. Eating healthy is also very beneficial. I do not believe that one is COMPLETELY healthy though unless they do both (eat health and exercise). As an athlete, I am constantly working out, but my eating habits are total crap and I am not even in that great of shape. I prefer exercising because it is personally easier for me. It also relieves stress and anger to exercise. I totally agree with this article and thought it was a good article for health.

  9. I agree that exercise is very important to staying healthy. However, it can be very difficult for teens to have time in their schedule to exercise, especially if they don't do sports as a hobby. I know that a lot of teens only have time after school to come home, do their homework, eat dinner, and go to bed. In order to get sufficient exercise, they would have to cut an hour out of their homework time or sleep time. Health is a balance, and it can be hard to focus on one area of your health without letting go of another.
