Can dogs improve human health?

http://www.helpguide.org/articles/emotional-health/the-health-benefits-of-pets.htm

Has your pet ever made your feel better when you were stressed or anxious about something? This article talks about how pets can help improve your health by reducing stress, anxiety and comforting us when we are upset. Dogs are canine companions, and I agree that they help us feel better when times are hard and love us unconditionally. I found this article very fascinating because I learned a lot of new thing about how dogs can help benefit human health by reducing depression, high blood pressure and other health ailments. I also realized that when you have a dog it can keep you healthy by making you get out and exercise. I recommend everyone to have a loving dog that can be there for them.

Do you agree that dogs improve human health?
If you have a dog, do they helped you feel better when you were depressed or anxious about something?

  1. I agree on that dogs or animals in general can improve your stress levels because i have a dog myself and when ever I'm stress i pet him and play with him and it makes myself feel 100% better. I am a animal lover so any animal could make me less stress because they are something tp distract me from getting even more stress.

  2. I also agree that dogs can reduce your stress levels. I have two dogs and I have noticed that whenever I am crammed with homework or just stressed with life they always seem to make me feel better I think they can sense my emotions and they definitely help me calm down.

  3. Dogs could improve human health unless a person hates animals.

  4. I agree on that animals in general can improve your stress levels because i have a cat and when ever I'm stressed i pet my cat and play with her and i always feel calmer and more relaxed. I love animals so any animal could make me less stress except for a bear or tiger because they allow me to distract my self.

  5. I do agree that dogs, or animals in general can help with your stress levels. Coming from someone who has multiple dogs, I can definitely say that they've always helped me calm down from things and relax. My dogs also know when I'm upset, so they'll come to me to comfort me. One interesting thing I found in the article is when it said dogs "add a structure and routine to your day" and continued to say how you have have a regular feeding schedule and things like that. I found this interesting because I had never thought about feeding my dogs in that way; it being a structure and keeping my dog and me balanced.

  6. Having a pet definitely improves your health. While pets such as cats and dogs cause allergies, they can also decrease the risk of allergies for kids growing up around them. Studies show that infants who are exposed to cats and dogs have stronger immune systems and are less likely to develop allergic diseases.

  7. I do agree having a pet does have some health benefits. I myself have a ca that I love very much and when I feel down I talk to her and hopefully she is listening. But she does make me feel better as do most owners with their animals. I live in a community neighborhood where most of my neighbors have dogs and cats. Some of the older ladies just live with themselves and their animals. I think this is very cute that they live with their animals as like children to keep themselves company. I do believe that animals can help humans deal with personal separation with children or emotional feelings. Even though they can't speak their comfort is like them talking to us in general.

  8. I don't have a dog myself but I have always noticed how absolutely attached people get to their dogs as if it is a complete member of the family, who is just always fun loving. This article was really interesting because it made me contemplate the fact that animals always make people so happy and that this fact could somehow relate to the owner's health. I do agree that these pets can improve one's state of mind and mood but I don't think they can always improve one's health. I know a lot of people who have dogs as companions that make them happy and encouraged to get out for a run/walk. I think having a pet is nothing but positive but I'm not exactly sure they can always improve your health overall.

  9. I 110% agree that dogs help with human happiness. BUT they only help if you like dogs. Dogs wait around all day and then when the moment you see them they get all happy and excited. Dogs can never be replaced in someone's heart, it's like a family member. You grow with the dog, and have memories together. I mean dogs probably don't remember all the times you took them on the walk, but they remember who you are. They get to know their family so well, and they can tell when people are sad. Dogs can't really improve health. They can't force you to eat healthier and go to sleep earlier. They help on the category of happiness though.

  10. I totally agree that dogs help us be more healthy. I wonder, do cats and other animals have similar affects? Or is it just dogs? I wish I had a dog.

  13. I definitely think that dogs or any pet can help improve human health because they are someone you can tell everything to and they won't tell anyonee else and really can't even respond ha which is sometimes nice. Dogs are also proven to be great judges of character and they also protect you. i have been trying to convince my parents to get me a dog to help with all my issues:)

  15. I 100% agree that dogs can improve human health. I could be having the absolute worst day, stressed out to the max, and as soon as I go over to my dog I immediately stop thinking about all those things. Really for any case whether you are stressed, sad, depressed, or lonely, dogs help in a major way for all those types of situations.
