How Much Food Should You Eat???????

Do you ever feel like just pigging out on junk food? Well I sure do. Sometimes people eat so much to the point where they don't feel good. You really should know how much you eat and what you eat.  If you tend to eat big portions then you are going to continue to eat big portions. People get so used to the food they eat that they are not getting enough protein and nutrients. Studies show that people who over eat start to become obese. Healthy food equals a healthy heart.

Why do you think America is known as the obese country?  In what ways can we keep our country healthy and strong? Do you think what we eat affects our emotion health? In what ways do you keep yourself healthy?

  1. I think the reason why America is known to be obese is because we have a lot more fast food and processed foods that are made to taste really good but really unhealthy. Such as Mcdonalds many countries have Mcdonalds but have more of a healthy choice than America. We can always have fast food resturants go and spend a little more money to get more fresh and natural ingredients. The way I think is a good thing to do when you're really hungry is too drink a smoothe because it's sweet and its healthy because most people think water is to plain but if you go for a sports drink then it's unhealthy even though its sweet but a smoothe can give you that full feeling and makes you feel great. What I do every morning is to drink a smoothe everyday because it can give you more energy and a healthy and if you can't drink it at home just take it to go easy!

  2. I believe America is obese mostly due to Americans' love for money. A lot of food in America is processed and reduced of nutrients, and corporations tend to do this to either make the food look better or taste better to increase profits. Additionally, American people often do not wish to pay more to buy organic food, so they will take the cheap way out and buy the local, easily available fast food which is bad for their health (I personally find myself doing this a lot).

  3. I think there is a lot of obesity in this country because a lot of our food is processed and on every corner we have a fast food restaurant. Majority of Americans are always on the run so they choose to get something fast at McDonald that going home and cook a nutritious meal. I honestly don't think we can ever keep our country healthy and strong only if we shut down all the fast food restraints but we all that's never going to happen.I do think we eat effects our emotions because when I drink a green juice I feel so good and I have so much energy and I'm positive all day and when I eat unhealthy food I feel really guilty and all I want to do is stay home and watch Netflix. I think I keep my self healthy by trying to aim everyday go walk my dog for at least 30 min and drinking a green juice in the morning instead of eating a bow of cereal that contains large amounts of sugar.

  6. I think America is known as the obese country because Americans have started to become lazy and have the extra money to go out and get fast food instead of cooking a healthy meal at home. Therefore since we are so lazy we aren't exercising enough to get rid of all the calories we've taken in from our meals. I feel like a way to keep America strong and healthy is for every doctor to personalize for each patient on how much they should eat portions wise because I think people will take it into consideration from a trusted and informed person such as their doctor. I think what we eat affects our emotional health as well as that our emotions affect what we eat. As I read on Everyday Health, the American Psychological Association found that stress causes your body to seek sugar as quick fuel for energy. I keep myself healthy by eating vitamins every day as well as walking my dogs every day.

  7. Well, according to the article, the American people are obese because of portion sizes, in addition to the unhealthy food we eat. We've gotten so used to large portions, they've become normal portion sizes! We need to learn how to eat less. Unfortunately, I succumb to the large portions and eat till I'm bursting. As a growing teenager who stays active this isn't that bad, but I know that eventually I could be in trouble. I'm sure that's the same for many others, and could be part of the reason why, after our teen years, us humans gain some wait. We should try to fix this repeating sequence of extensive eating and make a change.

  9. I believe America is known as an Obese country. In the Bay Area we might not see it as much because we live in a "health centered" society, but many parts of America aren't as health centered. I think a lot if this has to do with how much wealth we have as a country, we have a wide variety of food avaliable to us and not all of it is that good for you.

  10. I believe that america is a very obese and unhealthy country. We are very lucky to live in the bay area because we have access to fresh fruits and vegetables all year long. I think that we can help keep this country healthy by continuing to teach kids about how to eat and cook right and teach them about the dangers of being unhealthy. WebMD says that eating unheathy foods can cause you to become more stressed and in turn being stressed leads to people to eat more unhealthy foods.

  11. I believe that America is obese because we eat what is easy and fast. Our days are usually packed with activities and we don't have enough time to make a healthy home made meal. Eating healthy is also super expensive and a lot of Americans buy what is cheap so that they can save money. A lot of the fast cheap foods are unhealthy for us and are almost always processed. I also agree that portion size effects American obesity. When we find something really yummy we usually stuff our faces until we are overly full and have eaten too much. Unhealthy food often tastes the best, so we tend to end up eating a lot of junk food and food with empty calories rather than healthy foods. I also think that what you eat can affect your emotions. If you eat healthy and fill your body with nutritional foods you will feel good and will be in a good mood. I've noticed when I eat unhealthy I can be moody or irritable to people and I think that the main cause of that is sugar.

  12. I think there's a very important distinction here that not everyone is making. Some say that a large portion of your health is dependent on the TYPE of food you eat, and others say that that portion of your health is dependent on HOW MUCH food you eat. This article suggests that the amount of food that Americans eat is having a negative impact on American health, but I don't see any supportive statistics or evidence. I'd be really interested in hearing about a study done on health impacts of different amounts of food that would control the variable of WHAT the person eats more of.

  13. I believe that America is obese because of our large amount of fast food restaurants, and the fact that a lot of people are not educated on health and nutrition. Most people in America are always rushing somewhere which causes more and more people to eat fast food. I also think the types of food you eat can mainly affect your energy level.

  14. The reason that America is one of the most obese countries is that it is a part of our culture. The American culture of "Do what you want, When you want, as fast as you can." Leads to us eating when we want, what we want, as fast as we can. The great thing about our culture is that we can change it. If enough people start watching their health and stop buying fast/unhealthy foods, our culture will have to fallow with us. Food can have a very large effect on your body, mentally and physical. In order to stay healthy I try to only eat 3 meals a day and a small snack after lunch and dinner.

  16. I think that America is known for its obesity because of the amount of Fast Food places we have here. American's like to eat cheap, fast food which isn't healthy. If people were to not be so lazy (I myself am very lazy) and actually go get a good meal that isn't just cheap and easy and fast, maybe the rate of obesity would decrease.

  17. I totally agree on this discussion about how amounts and portions matter when it comes to eating and your health. Personally, I tend to eat super quickly and then I suddenly eat a lot more than I ever desired to. This is an issue that I'm sure others in the U.S. face and is something that you have to learn to control with self-motivation. The only person in charge of your food choices are yourself. Yes, there are tempting fast food joints that make it impossible to do the right thing and get a salad from Safeway, but at the end of the day it's our decisions that'll affect our own future and health!

  18. I feel that America is fat not because the amount of fast food restaurants, but because Americans have tons of money to waste on food that they don't necessarily need to live. Most developed countries have fast food but most of those countries don't have obesity rates like the U.S.

Our health could affect our emotions. Some people doesn't really care. I don't really keep myself healthy, I just eat whatever I feel like eating.

  20. I feel that America is fat because the cheapest, fastest and most convenient food that we have at our disposal is from fast food restaurants which usually aren't healthy. I think we can keep our country healthy by taking down the fast food restaurants and be educating more kids on how to eat healthy. I think what we eat effects are emotions because unhealthy eating can lead to getting tired very easily which in turn make us at least seem more depressed. The only way I cant think of that I keep my self healthy is by staying active by playing drums and walking places instead of driving once I get my license and even now.

  21. I think that Americans are obese due to the lack in education, we were always taught that calories consumed can be burned off by exercising. However, the amount of time that it would take to burn off everything you ate would take way too long, and most Americans just simply don't have that much time. Also, we are taught that "reduced fat" and "fat free" are healthy, but if you look it has twice the sugar which gets turned into fat, so really fat free is not helpful at all. So to keep our people healthy and strong is to educate them about nutrition. Ways that I keep myself healthy is I walk most places, I don't eat that much just in general, and I don't eat a lot of sugary foods such as soda.

  22. I think the fact that fast food is cheap and easy contributes to obesity because it appeals to busy people who need to feed their family on a budget. I do know that healthy eating can be cheap but involves some minor preparation, but this information isn't well known.

  23. Proportions are affecting our everyday day lives. people usually tend to eat more food than they can consume. This affects the population overall. Most people over eat due to stress levels, anxiety, depression, anger, ext. This has been a big risk in today's society. Your mind is telling you to continue to eat when your stomach on the inside is telling you to stop. Your system is moving too fast that the food turn into fats also depending on the food you are eating. Eating better proportions and listening to your head will help people';s everyday diets overall

  24. I think food portions are effecting America's obesity levels. We tend to eat until we are stuffed and can't eat anymore and half the time it is with unhealthy food. If we had the right proportions with the nessary foods we should be consuming everyday we would see major results.

  25. I think that America is known as the obese country because, according to the article, food portions have expanded since the 1980s and are continuing to increase. Due to this, people who eat a certain food, don't realize that they're having a portion of the food that is 3 times the amount of one serving of that particular food. This causes people to over eat and gain weight over time. As kelly mentioned in her comment, people who eat too quickly also tend to eat more, which leads to future obesity. As a nation, we need to reduce the amount of food we consume by reading the label and observing the portion size, only eating one serving of the unhealthy food(if at all), using a smaller plate and measuring out our nutrients in the four sections of our plate, and eating slowly to figure out when we're full. By doing this not only will we be eating regular portions, but we'll notice when we're full and stop eating unnecessarily.

  26. I feel like the United States is known as an obese country because of all our fast food companies. We can keep our country healthy by maybe putting restrictions on food and on companies on what they can sell to people. Other then that it's just up to the people. If they want to be healthy they will eat healthy. I try to stay healthy by just exercising often.

  28. I think that America is known for being the obese country because we have such large quantities of meal servings and we have fast food places. There really is no way to stop these two things other than making it known that fast food is bad for you and you should be eating less. One of the ways i try to healthy is staying away from fast food. Fast food really has such a negative effect on the body and if you were to see what you were actually putting into your body, you would not eat fast food anymore.
