Aggressive drivers risking lives

Aggressive drivers are known road hazards, causing one third of all traffic crashes. Drivers may follow too closely, make sudden turns without signaling, or weave in and out of traffic. If someone is driving aggressively you should always stay focused and let them pass you or try to keep a distance. Teens are the # 1 aggressive drivers. Most aggressive drivers also try multitasking while driving which is a huge part for accidents. Multitasking  includes eating, smoking, phone usage, etc.

Should it be illegal to multitask and drive?
Do people get away with driving aggressively?
What makes you drive aggressively or defensively?
How can we help stop the defensive/aggressively driving?

  1. I really think this is a big issue with drivers, especially with teens. I think people need to learn how to control themselves when driving. I also think that when people are driving they need to think before the do something because if they don't then they could get themselves into a lot of trouble and it could affect people around them.

  2. The current laws prohibiting texting while driving have been proven to reduce crashes. However, "multitasking" can cover a very broad range of activities, so it would be harder to define and enforce. I don't believe a multitasking ban would be implemented very well. The reason teens have a high aggressive driving rate is their lower decision making skills. Teens probably need more incentive than adults to drive responsibly, so one solution would be to increase the fines for teens driving aggressively.

  3. I don't think that people should multitask in a car becasue that is super dangerous. Many people get into car crashes because they are on their phone or doing their make up or even looking down to grab something. It is illegal to be multitasking while driving like if a police sees you on your phone they will for sure give you a ticket and if you do anything while driving they woul stop you because its very dangerous to drive and do something on the side.

  4. I believe that it should be illegal to multitask and drive. So many things can happen in a second and if you take your eyes off the road you can easily crash. There are still a lot of drivers that go on their phones or drive distracted which can risk their lives along with others. We can stop aggressive driving by creating greater punishments such as increased ticket prices. This will make people not want to drive aggressively since they don't want to pay a lot of money for the ticket.

  5. I think that aggressive driving is very common, but I don't think it causes nearly as much accidents than distracted driving. Distracted driving I think is what people need to focus more on because aggressive driving is unpreventable. There are people in this world who simply aren't good at driving, which causes other drivers to get frustrated. I read somewhere that if you're driving and someone's being an idiot, just keep driving safe and let it go.

  6. Multi-tasking while driving greatly increases the risk for an accident. Of course it should be illegal to multitask or drive! For their, and other's safety, drivers should focus on driving and nothing else.

  8. Driving is a very big responsibility once you are behind that wheel you always need to be alret specially if you have passengers aboard because it wouldn't just be you life it would be the passengers life as well so we need to try to maintain a positive attitude when driving. Because it's not just your life on the line it's your passengers life as well. So if you run into an aggressive driver it would be best to just let them past.

  9. It already is aganist the law to text and drive, and talk on the phone and drive. Two big causes of accidents are already illegal, but I don't agree with taking away all multitasking becuase like drinking a sip of your water at a stop sign in my opinion is okay. I may not agree with applying makeup while driving though. If someone is driving very aggressively the chances of them being pulled over are higher. I do not get aggressive when I drive, because I don't see the point of rushing to one place and potentially being in an accident compared to taking my time and being 5 minutes late.

  10. I've been driving for 5 months and I've already seen tons of aggressive drivers doing things that are very stupid on the road. People text, and people eat, and people put on makeup, and it's all extremely dangerous for everyone else on the road. Those people essentially have no idea what kind of accidents they might cause that could result in the death(s) of (multiple) people. I've even seen people flip others off or make a big deal out of someone in front of them "stopping short" at a red light. The law is fair as it is now; no multitasking while driving.

  12. I agree with this article. But not all the times accidents are caused by aggressive drivers, sometimes accidents happen because of texting. But yeah if you ever get across aggressive drivers just let them go by and avoid the worst.

  13. I believe this a big issue because most of the accidents may happen because of drunk driving , texting and over speed. texting when driving is dangerous because a lot of people have been in accidents like these and they risk there lives. try to avoid texting when driving and also don't distract the driver if your a passenger . if you see an aggressive driver just let them go ahead of you . Don't multitask when your ever driving.

  14. I recently got a car and have been realizing just how aggressive some drivers could be, but I sometimes am a bit aggressive as well. I think that being in a hurry is one of the main reasons to drive aggressively. Not everyone gets away with this because driving this way causes many accidents or tickets... It's not worth it. Driving can be very scary because you're not just responsible for your own life, but all other driver's as well. I agree with the article that multi tasking is also another huge risk to driving aggressively and getting in accidents.

  15. It should be illegal to multitask and drive. A LOT of people get away with aggressively driving and tbh I do sometimes but only when Im arguing with somebody in the car lol. We can stop the aggressive driving by bringing the topic up more often to the public. It will make them realize that they are aggressively driving too.

  16. I believe that driving while angry or multitasking is very dangerous and needs to be avoided at all costs because it can cause the loss of innocent lives. This issue is vey big and needs to be addressed because it can have fatal outcomes and isnt beneficial to anyone because you and the other person will end up being hurt. Multitasking should be avoided while driving because driving is already a task and trying to manage a machine that can cause harm is a deadly combo. Multitasking and driving should be enforced more because once you start driving your focus should be on the road and nothing else.
